This forgotten Union earthwork comes to life as Veteran Civil War reenactors describe the life of the soldier, the art of field fortification and Fitzhugh Lee’s cavalry attack. Defended by three regiments of USCTs under General Edward A. Wild, the fort encompassed an army depot at this historic wharf located on the banks of the James River.
